A group of Millwall supporting hooligans travels to Spain for the 1982 World Cup Finals soon after the start of the Falklands War. One member of the gang is bent on avenging a personal loss.

Aldo, recently turned 40, is left out of the blue and without explanation by Alessia after a 15-year relationship. On the advice of a friend, Aldo decides to begin a course of therapy. During the sessions, his psychologist Carlo, a 70-year-old introvert, discovers that he has had the same experience that prompted Aldo to turn to him.
